true, but it does bring up an interesting question, though I totally disagree with his reaction. That reaction would have been a lot more tolerated if she had been kissing a guy, right? So is there a double standard when it comes to girls “stepping out of a relationship” with other girls versus with guys? I skipped through it a bit and assuming the situation was that this Trenton fellow and the one girl were “together”

Yeah, I think the song talks about stealing the girlfriend away from the boyfriend. Yes, Trenton’s reaction is—I’m trying not to say “understandable,” because it isn’t—right for the story the video is telling. We can’t be sure if his reaction is one of jealousy or homophobia, though. Perhaps both. I wonder, though, if a video like this would get mainstream attention if the genders were swapped.

I read an op-ed in my local paper about how lesbianism is generally less shocking than male homosexuality because of its popularity in a wide band of pornography (meaning softcore to hardcore and everywhere in between) and porn-y material targeted at men (and enjoyed by some women). The appropriation as a lurid act performed for arousal means that we’re slightly uncomfortable but okay with lesbian interactions, at least to a greater extent than two men engaging in similar acts. I would imagine there’s more to it than just that, but it still was food for thought.
In any case, I know that if I were upset with my significant and then they other hit someone I had feelings for and then yelled at me, only to then be brutally attacked by the person they just hit, I would be pretty quick to cut ties to both of them.

So, they could have just been striaght forward with the dude, and preferably before the substance use and maybe not had the same reaction?
